1.AU Vodka
When co-founders Charlie Morgan and Jackson Quinn came up with the idea of a flashier looking vodka bottle in 2015 they had their eyes fixed squarely on knocking Grey Goose off its perch.
With product development completed, AU’s signature gold bottles hit the shelves in 2016 to the tune of around 2,000 bottles sold. The brand struggled with growth over the next few years. However, In a stroke of strategic serendipity the founders approached DJ Charlie Sloth on Instagram and asked if he wanted a free bottle. A collab and investment later AU vodka found itself with thousands of new followers and access to an extensive contact book of rappers and influencers. Exposure breeds popularity and popularity lets you get on the shelves of Costco, all of a sudden the brand now had nationwide distribution. Some further influencer collabs and a few new flavours later took AU Vodkas £706,000 turnover in the 6 months to April 2020 to a whopping £43.9m in 2021/22…Not bad.
2.Ooni
I mean everyone loves pizza right?! Just over a decade ago Kristian Tapaninaho certainly did. Frustrated by the lack of quality he was getting with his pizzas with a conventional oven he looked to buy a wood-fired pizza oven to satisfy his pizza perfect urge. Turns out wood-fired pizza ovens are expensive and/or too big. Tapaninaho took it upon himself to fix that and a series of sketches and prototypes later the first ever portable wood-fired pizza oven was born. COVID lockdowns are thought to be behind a stellar year for Ooni who have experienced a fivefold increase in revenue from £13m to £55m!
3.TRIP
In the UK CBD used to have a bad rep, but in recent years consensus has changed and now we have a potentially exponentially growing market on our hands. This has fuelled the growth of TRIP a CBD infused beverage. It is reported that trip has grown an eye watering 522% over the last 12 months and holds a mammoth 88% of the CBD drinks market in the UK. With revenue now sitting around the £4-£5m mark per year and a £10m funding round secured we are expecting big things from the CBD brand into 2024 and beyond.
